Egypt's rising powerhouse Pyramids FC have continued to flex their financial muscle.
According to reports, Czech Republic giants Sparta Prague rejected a €7million bid from the Egyptian club for the services of Romania international Nicolae Stanciu. The deal would have ranked as the second highest transfer in African football history.
Stanciu has registered 10 goals and 10 assists in 34 matches for Sparta since joining the club from Belgium club Anderlecht 12 months ago.
The midfielder, 25, was reportedly keen on joining Pyramids, but Prague rejected the ambitious club's approaches.
Pyramids FC have launched a serious bid to overpower both Al Ahly and Zamalek to become not only the biggest club in Egypt, but also on the African continent.
Former Palmeiras forward Keno recently joined Pyramids for an African recorded €8million. PFC are backed by the Chairman of the Saudi Sports Authority Turki Al Sheikh.
