Manchester United have reportedly ended their pursuit of Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly for the time being.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils have accepted that Napoli won't sell the Senegal international this month. This, though, hasn't ended the club's interest in the player and United are expected to re-ignite their pursuit of the 27-year-old at the end of the season.

Koulibaly has been subject to a lot of interest from around Europe in recent months, and Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis recently revealed that the Serie A club had previously rejected a £95 million bid from United.

The burly centre-back signed a fresh long-term deal in November that could keep him in Naples until 2023, but that is unlikely if Koulibaly continues to assert himself as one of the best defenders in world football.

United were hopeful that Napoli's exit from the UEFA Champions League would increase their chances of luring Koulibaly to Old Trafford, but those hopes seemed to have been dashed.

Koulibaly has featured 24 times for Napoli this season, but missed the club's final game of 2018 through suspension.
