Free State Stars came from a goal down to beat relegation rivals Maritzburg United 2-1 in an Absa Premiership game at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday evening.
Relebogile Mokhuoane and Sinethemba Jantjie found the back of the net for Ea Lla Koto with victory - a first away from home this season - leading the club up to 13th place on the log standings, five points clear of bottom-placed Maritzburg.
Deolin Mekoa opened the scoring in KZN with a neat finish on the cusp of half-time as Maritzburg went in search of a first home win of the campaign.
It was not to be for the hosts, though, as Mokhuoane pulled the visitors level in the 72nd minute with a neat back heel, before Jantjie struck home a sweet finish nine minutes later to seal all three points for Stars.
The Bidvest Wits-bound attacker rose of the bench to great effect to pull Stars clear while a fourth defeat in succession leaves Maritzburg in serious trouble.
