Celtic look to build momentum

Bloemfontein Celtic will look to build momentum in the Absa Premiership when they host Golden Arrows at Dr Molemela Stadium on 13 January 2019, kick-off at 15h30.

Celtic broke a four-game losing streak when they defeated Chippa United 1-0 away on January 4, thanks to a goal from Ndumiso Mabena. It was their first league victory since early November.

Phunya Sele Sele have claimed 11 points from eight home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 2-1 loss at the hands of Highlands Park in mid-December.

Arrows picked up just their fourth win of the season when they defeated KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United 2-0 at home on January 6, with goals from Knox Mutizwa and Joao Moreira.

Abafana Bes’thende have claimed eight points from as many away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 2-0 loss at AmaZulu in December.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Arrows have met in 29 league matches since 2000/01. Phunya Sele Sele have claimed 13 wins compared to four for Abafana Bes’thende, while 12 matches have been drawn. The Bloemfontein side has recorded seven wins, six draws and suffered just one defeat from their 14 home matches in the rivalry.

When the teams met earlier this season, Celtic claimed a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Tshegofatso Mabaso and Kabelo Dlamini. Phunya Sele Sele will be chasing a hat-trick of victories over Abafana Bes’thende.
