Denis Onyango believes Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Hlompho Kekana deserves more recognition on the African continent.
According to the Uganda international, Kekana is one of the best players in Africa, but has yet to receive the plaudits he deserves.
The 33-year-old midfielder skippered Sundonws to their first Caf Champions League crown three years ago and continues to form an integral part of the Brazilians squad.
“I think the captain is a little bit unfortaunte not to be mentioned among the best players on the continent, but he has done well. I think he deserves to be among the best players, but he keeps on fighting and I believe he will one day get the accolade,” Onyango is quoted as saying by KickOff.com.
“Even in the PSL they don’t recognise him that much, but you can see the work ethic he puts in for club and country. But I believe one day it will pay off.”
Kekana, who has been nominated for several top accolades both locally and abroad - notable for the 2016 FIFA Puskas Award - is yet to walk away with the top accolade.
