DRC’s AS Vita Club were ruthless in front of goal as they demolished Simba SC 5-0 in a CAF Champions League, Group D matchat the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte on Saturday.

The home side started positively and opened the scoring in the 14th minute courtesy of a strike from Jean-Marc Makusu, 1-0.

Five minutes later Vita doubled their lead after a well-worked move concluded with Botuli Bompunga finding the back of the net, 2-0.

The DRC side’s dominance in the match was confirmed with their third goal in injury time of the first half after Fabrice Ngoma found the back of the net from the penalty spot, 3-0.

Simba tried to mount some form of a comeback in the second half and looked to be finding some rhythm until they conceded their fourth goal in the 71st minute after a Makwekwe Kupa scored for Vita, 4-0.

Three minutes later the match was over as a contest when Makusu scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-0.

The win was Vita’s first of the group stages and sees them up to second on the standings with three points from two matches while Simba are third on the same number of points. Al Ahly lead Group D with four points while Saoura are last with one point.

Vita are next in action in the Champions League on Saturday, 2 February against Saoura while Simba will face Al Ahly.
