Ghana national team assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has backed Asante Kotoko to progress through the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors secured their place in the group phase when they completed a 5-3 aggregate victory over Cameroon’s Coton Sport in the playoff round this past weekend.

The Ghanaian club has been drawn in Group C alongside Sudanese giants Al Hilal and the Zambian duo of Zesco United and Nkana.

Konadu, speaking ahead of the draw, was confident that the Kumasi-based outfit have what it takes to advance from the group and reach the quarterfinals.

"I have to congratulate Kotoko because they have really proven that they are one of the best clubs in the country and on the continent,” the Black Stars assistant told Goal.

“At this stage, every club is in an excellent form but I am confident Kotoko will survive whichever group they will have after the draw.

"Irrespective of the clubs that they will be paired with, I'm expecting them to do a decent job and make it out.

“Two clubs will qualify from each group and that is not beyond them. Kotoko have a very good squad and technical team as well as an enviable fan base to achieve success this season.

"Everyone saw that the stadium was full to capacity against Coton Sport. The supporters wanted to be part of the story.

“I believe they will continue to rally behind the team in the group stage and make Baba Yara Sports Stadium an intimidating ground for opponents," he added.

Group A – Hassania Agadir, AS Otoho, RS Berkane, Raja Casablanca
Group B – Etoile du Sahel, Enugu Rangers, Salitas, CS Sfaxien
