Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund are hoping to sign AFC Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech before the close of the January transfer window, according to France Football.

BVB are chasing glory on three fronts, as they lead the way in the German top flight and are still involved in both the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal (German Cup).

Lucien Favre’s side want to bolster their chances of success in all three competitions and have earmarked Ziyech as a top transfer target with mere hours of the European winter window remaining.

The Moroccan has established himself as not only a key man for Ajax, but one of the Eredivisie’s top-performing players in recent seasons.

The Amsterdam club has already agreed a deal to sell Frenkie de Jong to Spanish giants Barcelona at the end of the season, and will be reluctant to entertain any offers for Ziyech.

The 25-year-old has been at Ajax since 2016 and is contracted at the Johan Cruyff Arena until June 2021, with an estimated market value of £30million.

This season alone, the Atlas Lions star has racked up 13 goals and 11 assists from 28 appearances across all competitions.

Ziyech and Ajax will be in Eredivisie action on Saturday night when they play at home to VVV Venlo.
