Zamalek head coach Christain Gross is wary of Kenyan giants Gor Mahia ahead of their opening CAF Confederation Cup Group D match in Kasarani on Sunday.

“I have asked the players to forget about the domestic league and focus on our continental mission,” Gross said on the CAF website.

The Swiss tactician was speaking after seeing his side thump Misr Makassa 4-1 on Tuesday to cement their top spot on the Egyptian Premier League standings.

“It’s a totally different competition now and we have to be 100 per cent focused from the start to the end," he explained.

“It’s always good to start the group stage with a victory. Gor Mahia game is going to be difficult but we have to give our all, whether the game is at home or away”, added Gross who led Saudi side Al Ahly Jeddah to a domestic double in 2016.

The Egyptian giants have never won the CAF Confederation Cup, but they clinched the African Cup Winners' Cup once and CAF Cup three times.

The CAF Cup was merged with the African Cup Winners' Cup, and was renamed the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004.
