ZESCO United moved top of 2019 Caf Confederations Cup Group C with a 2-0 win over Zambian rivals Nkana at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Sunday.

John Ching'andu and Lazarous Kambole found the back of the net for Team Ya Ziko who are level on points with Al-Hilal Omdurman after one round of fixtures. The Sudanese giants beat Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the same time.

ZESCO hit the front in the 28th minute through Ching'andu who latched onto a pass from Anthony Akumu before firing past the Nkana goalkeeper.

Kambole doubled the hosts lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage-time with a crisp strike that left Red Devils shot-stopper Kelvin Malunga with no chance.

Nkana pushed forward in search of the equaliser in the second-half, but it was not to be as ZESCO claimed the bragging rights in front of their homes fans.

Next up for ZESCO is a trip away to Asante Kotoko in Ghana while Nkana welcome Al-Hilal to Kitwe in 10 days time.
