Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojevic lamented his side's inability to find the back of the net in their 0-0 draw at home to Esperance de Tunis on Saturday evening.
The Buccaneers outplayed the defending Caf Champions League champions, but failed to capitalise on their chances and when Justin Shonga had the ball in the back of the net, he was incorrectly flagged for offside by the assistant match official.
Goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands was barely tested between the posts in a match where 'Micho' feels his team followed the technical teams instructions to the tee. Unfortunately for the Soweto giants, they weren't able to convert pressure into goals.
“We played – please do not forget – against the Champions of Africa respectfully, and with that in mind we believe we gave a good account of ourselves,” said Sredojevic in the aftermath.
“We did everything that was needed to win the game, except scoring that goal. In all aspects of the game we have outplayed but not outscored the opponent.
“I want to give credit to the players for following up to the last instruction, because we prepared for this match up to the last detail – it was a tough match.”
The South Africans' remain top of Group B after three rounds of fixtures, tied on points with their Tunisian counterparts.
