Al Ahly club captain Hossam Ashour on Tuesday evening made history for the club as he rose off the bench in the 70th minute.

The 32-year-old replaced Amr El-Sulya in the second-half for his 500th professional appearance for the Reds in a 2-1 win over ENPPI at PetroSport Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League.

Victory moved Al Ahly sixth points off second placed Pyramids FC who trail log leaders Zamalek by three points. The Red Devils have played fewer games than both their title rivals.

One club man, Ashour, rose through Al Ahly's youth ranks before making his First Team debut in 2004. He would go on to become the club's youngest ever captain a few seasons later.

Ashour was won an astonishing five Caf Champions League titles with the Egyptian giants, making well over 100 appearances in Africa's premier cup competition in the process. He has also won 11 league titles during his distinguished career.
