South Africa Under-20 head coach Thabo Senong is pleased after his team qualified for its second FIFA U-20 World Cup.

This comes after a 1-0 victory over Burundi in their final group game at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Maradi on Friday evening.

Amajita secured their place in the last four of the biennial championships through Luke Le Roux’s ninth-minute penalty after Thabiso Monyane was brought down in the Burundian box.

“This is a second World Cup and third African Cup in a row it shows that we want to be one of those young teams around the world," Senong said.

"And I want to congratulate the Burundian coach because they played well in some parts of the game.

“Senegal is one of the best U-20 teams in the continent and we’ve been following them at the WAFU Cup in Togo where they won the tournament," he added.

"It’s not an easy team because they’re very hard working and it’s going to be very tough to play against them."
