Atletico Madrid’s Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has cooled speculation that he is on his way out of the La Liga club.

The 25-year-old, who has been on Atletico’s books since 2012, has been linked with a move to Italian giants Roma, while English teams Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have also been mentioned as possible suitors for the Black Stars midfielder.

However, Partey insists that he has not had any contact with other clubs and believes the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano is the best place for him to be as a player.

"In truth, there was nothing and I have not spoken to anyone,” said Partey.

“At the beginning of the season, I talked to the coach [Diego Simeone], because as a player, of course, I'm thinking of my future.

"I think that there is no place where I understand myself better than here. I have to work hard, try to use every minute and evolve."

The Ghanaian has racked up 19 appearances and two goals in La Liga so far in 2018/19.

He will hope to see action later this afternoon when Atletico host Real Madrid for a crunch derby match, while ‘Los Rojiblancos’ will also take on Juventus over two legs (February 20 and March 12) in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
