Chippa United beat Free State 2-0 in an Absa Premiership relegation battle at Goble Park in Bethlehem on Sunday evening.
Victory moves the Chilli Boys up to 13th place on the log standings, three points clear of Ea Lla Koto who sit a mere two points above bottom placed Maritzburg United.
Rhulani Manzini and Kurt Lentjies found the back of the net for the Eastern Cape club who recorded their first away win of the league season. The result also extended their unbeaten run against Stars to seven matches.
Chippa opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Manzini who fired home from the penalty spot as the visitors took a narrow lead into the break.
Stars improved following the interval, but struggled to create any real chances before Lentjies doubled Chippa's lead in the 86th minute to secure all three points for the Chilli Boys.
