Today is Matchday 2 in the group stage of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup, with eight matches taking place across Africa.
The focus will fall on Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek, who are looking for a strong response to their stunning 4-2 defeat away to Kenya’s Gor Mahia on the first weekend of February in their opening Group D match.
The White Knights face a potentially tricky North African derby at home to Algerian side NA Hussein Dey, who will be brimming confidence after their 2-1 win over Petro Atletico when they head to the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
Mahia, meanwhile, will be under pressure to back up their fine result against Zamalek with a win in Luanda against Petro, but Hassan Oktay’s side may be running low on energy after successive Kenyan Premier League matches in between, including a draining derby against hated rivals AFC Leopards last Saturday.
A Moroccan derby between RS Berkane and Hassania Agadir headlines Group A, while defending Confed Cup champions Raja Casablanca will chase a home win over AS Otoho of the Congo.
Group B sees CS Sfaxien and Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers battle for top spot in Tunisia, and Group C features Ghanaian hopefuls Asante Kotoko looking to bounce back from an opening defeat to Al Hilal when they host Zesco United in Kumasi.
