RS Berkane have come out on top in the Moroccan derby against Hassania Agadir on Wednesday, securing a 2-1 victory in the teams’ CAF Confederation Cup Group A match at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane.
The result sees RSB go clear at the top of the pool on four points, while HUSA drop to last place. Raja Casablanca and AS Otoho are placed in between on two points apiece after drawing 0-0 earlier in the day.
The teams traded chances through the early stages of the match but were unable to make the most of their attacking opportunities.
The half looked set to end goalless, but in injury time before the interval Ayoub Mallouki took advantage of some slack defending from the hosts to put Agadir ahead, against the general run of play in the prior 45 minutes.
Yet that was not the end of the story for the first stanza, with Berkane going up the other end to equalise almost immediately through Alain Traore.
And RSB would go on to dominate the second half and complete their come-from-behind victory, with Issoufou Dayo netting in the 69th minute to secure victory and a first three-point haul for the host team.
The clubs will be back in action on February 24, with Berkane facing another Moroccan derby as they take on Raja away from home, and Hassania welcome Otoho to Agadir.
