Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers are still unbeaten in the CAF Confederations Cup after playing to a 1-1 draw against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in Group B match at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri on Wednesday night.

The first half produced very little in terms of real goalmouth action with both sides wasteful in the final third.

The home side did have the majority of the possession in the opening half and had numerous shots on goal, but their direction was lacking with four shots on goal out of ten attempts.

Rangers spent most of the half defending and were the more relieved of the two sides when the first stanza ended 0-0.

CS Sfaxien continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and finally found their reward in the 71st minute when Alaeddine Marzouki found the back of the net with a deadly finish, 1-0.

The home side’s joy, though, was short-lived when Pape Ousmane Sane scored the equaliser for Rangers two minutes later, 1-1.

CS Sfaxine pushed forward in the last twenty minutes but were unable to find the winner as the match ended all-square.

The result leaves both sides unbeaten in the Confederations Cup on four points apiece at the top of Group B.

CS Sfaxien are next in action in the Confederations Cup at home against Salitas on Sunday, February 24 while Rangers are away to Etoile du Sahel on the same day.
