Cape Town City have been dealt a heavy blow in their pursuit of a maiden Absa Premiership trophy.
The Citizens on Tuesday confirmed that midfield duo Thabo Nodada and Roland Putsche will miss the rest of the season duo to injury. The pair were both forced from the field in the club's 3-0 win over Highlands Park in the Nedbank Cup last Friday.
Nodada has suffered a right leg fracture and Putsche a meniscus tear. Both injuries were sustained after being on the end of two heavy tackles during the club's comfortable win over their top-tier rivals.
Cape Town City sit seven points off league leaders Bidvest Wits and are also still in contention for Nedbank Cup honours, having already clinched the MTN8 trophy this season.
With Ayanda Patosi having left the club in January, Benni McCarthy is seriously stretched in midfield in aftermath of Nodada and Putsche's respective injuries as they enter the business end of the campaign.
