Sudanese giants Al Hilal have appointed Tunisian Nabil Kouki as manager ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Zesco United this coming weekend.
The 48-year-old returns for a third stint as Al Hilal coach and replaces compatriot Irad Zafouri, who was axed last week after the club lost away to another Zambian side, Nkana FC, in the Confed Cup.
Hilal will hope Kouki can bring the team back to top form on the continental stage, having led the Blue Wave to the semifinals of the Champions League back in 2015.
After two matches in Group C of the Confed Cup, Hilal are level with the other three teams (Zesco United, Asante Kotoko and Nkana) on three points apiece.
“The board of directors of Al Hilal has decided to appoint Tunisian Nabil Kouki as coach of the team after negotiating and contracting him for his technical guidance in the coming period,” Al Hilal announced on their website.
The Sudanese side will play away to Nkana at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Sunday, 24 February.
