Cape Town City will look to bounce back to winning form in the Absa Premiership when they host Maritzburg United at Athlone Stadium on 23 February 2019, kick-off at 15h30.
City saw their unbeaten streak cut short to six-games when they were defeated 1-0 at AmaZulu on February 9. It was the Cape side’s first loss since early December.
The Citizens have claimed 18 points from 10 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 5-0 win over Free State Stars in mid-January.
Maritzburg broke a 14-game winless streak when they defeated Polokwane City 3-1 at home on February 8. It was their first win since September 2018 and the first time they have scored three or more goals in a match for more than a year.
The Team of Choice has claimed five points from 10 away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 1-0 defeat at Bidvest Wits in early February.
In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and City have met in five league matches since 2016/17. The Team of Choice has claimed two wins compared to one for the Citizens, while two games have been drawn. The Cape club has recorded one win and one defeat from their two matches as hosts.
When the teams met earlier this season, at the Harry Gwala Stadium in October 2018, they played out a goalless stalemate. It was a second successive league draw between City and United.
City’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to AmaZulu on February 9: Leeuwenburgh, Seedat, Cupido, Mngonyama, Mkhize, Mokeke, Modise (Putsche 80'), Nodada, Links (Ralani 70'), Martin, Erasmus (Akosah-Bempah 80').
Maritzburg’s line-up from their 3-1 win over Polokwane on February 8: Ofori, Mandela, De Reuck, Xulu, Kunene, Timm, Shandu, Makaringe, Kutumela (Matsi 64'), Ndlovu (Figareido 87'), Mokate (Moseamedi 58').
