Algeria’s NA Hussein Dey suffered their first loss in the CAF Confederations Cup after going down 2-0 to Kenya’s Gor Mahia in a Group D match at the Moi International Sports stadium in Nairobi on Sunday.

The visitors conceded two late goals and ended with only ten men on the pitch in what can only be described as a disastrous afternoon for them.

For the most part it was a largely uneventful match with the home side dominating the possession stakes, but failing to make their pressure pay with poor decision making and horrible shooting in the final third.

Hussein Dey, on the other hand, offered very little in the way of attack and were fortunate to get to the half time break all-square.

It was more of the same in the second half with Gor Mahia dictating the flow of play, but the Kenyan team just seemed unable to break the dead lock.

That was until the 84th minute when Francis Kahata found the back of the net with a clinical finish to make it 1-0 to Gor Mahia.

Matters went from bad to worse for the visitors who were then reduced to ten men a minute later after Chamsseddine Harrag received his second yellow card of the match.

The icing on the cake for Gor Mahia was their second goal, scored by Jacques Tuyisenge in the 87th minute to see the game end 2-0.

The victory is the Kenyan’s second of Group D and sees them on six points from three matches while Hussein Dey have four points from three games.

Hussein Dey will get a chance to avenge their defeat when they host Gor Mahia in a Confederations Cup match next Sunday, March 3.
