Ghana’s Asante Kotoko failed to beat a ten-man Nkana side after going down 3-1 to the Zambian side in CAF Confederations Cup, Group C match at the Nkana stadium in Kitwe on Sunday.

The loss for Kotoko is their second in Group C and sees them at the bottom of the standings on three points.

Kotoko, though, will get a chance to avenge their defeat when they host Nkana in a Confederations Cup match next Sunday, March 3.

On the day, though, at Kitwe stadium, the home side controlled the ball possession early on and made their pressure pay by winning a penalty in the 21st minute which was duly converted by Freddy Tshimenga, 1-0.

Kotoko quickly hit back and levelled matters two minutes later after clinical finish from Yacouba Songné, 1-1.

At this point the goals were coming thick and fast and Ronald Kampamba restored Nakan’s lead with a deadly shot, scoring the first of his two goals in the 26th minute, 2-1.

Both sides pushed forward in search of another goal, but neither could find the back of the net again before the break.

Eight minutes into the second half the Zambian side doubled their lead thanks to a second goal from Ronald Kampamba, 3-1.

Kotoko tried to find their way back into the match and applied pressure on the Nkana goal, but the home sides defence stood firm for the most part.

Nkana did suffer a bit of a set-back in the 73rd minute when they were reduced to ten men following a second yellow card for Richard Ocran.

Nonetheless, despite being a man down the home side held on for what was their second win in Group C and sees them on six points from three matches.
