Mamelodi Sundowns will continue their push for the Absa Premiership title when they host Cape Town City at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 27 February 2019, kick-off at 19h30.
Sundowns played to a second straight league draw when they held hosts Bidvest Wits 1-1 in Johannesburg on February 23 – despite playing more than half of the game with just 10 men.
The Brazilians have claimed 15 points from 10 home matches this season, with their last result as hosts a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on February 19.
City recorded their ninth league win of the season when they defeated Maritzburg United 3-2 at home on February 23, thanks to goals from Thamsanqa Mkhize, Gift Links and Riyaad Norodien.
The Citizens have claimed just 12 points from nine away matches this season, with their last result on the road a 1-0 loss at AmaZulu on February 9.
In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and City have met in four league matches since the 2016/17 season. The Citizens have claimed three wins compared to one for the Brazilians, while zero games have been drawn. The Tshwane side has lost both of their two home matches in the rivalry.
Last season each side managed a 1-0 away win over the other: City defeated ‘Downs in Tshwane in December 2017 thanks to a goal from Nana Akosh-Bempah, while the Brazilians returned the favour in Cape Town in February 2018 thanks to a strike from Khama Billiat.
