Zamalek head coach Christian Gross remains confident that his side can qualify for the knockout stages of this season's Caf Confederations Cup despite their latest setback.
The White Knights needed a 94th minute goal from Youssef Obama to conjure a 1-1 draw at home to Petro de Luanda in Alexandria on Sunday evening.
The result leaves Zamalek at the bottom of Group D. The five-time Caf Champions League winners have accumulated a mere two points from three group matches, having followed a 4-2 defeat away to Gor Mahia with a 1-1 draw at home to NA Hussein Dey.
“We equalised in the dying minutes, but we were certainly playing for the victory and the three points,” Gross said in his post-match press conference as per KingFut.com.
“We need to improve in the remaining three games in order to qualify for the quarter-finals. We are the ones who chose the difficult road.
“I fully believe in my players’ abilities to get past the group-stages. We will fight in the remaining games. We can do it," he concluded.
Next up for Zamalek is a clash away to Petro in Luanda on the 3rd of March.
