Martin Antwi has hailed Asante Kotoko teammate Songne Yacouba for scoring in his team’s CAF Confederation Cup loss to Nkana FC this past weekend.
The Ghanaian side succumbed 3-1 in Kitwe on Sunday, leaving them at the bottom of Group C after three Matchdays.
The defeat was a bleak one for the Porcupine Warriors, but at least there was a silver lining to the dark cloud as Yacouba netted midway through the first half to end his goal drought.
Antwi was relived to see his teammate get back to scoring ways: "We were all worried because Yacouba has enjoyed more playing time in the Confederation Cup with an impressive display, but hasn't had the season that he would have been hoping for.”
Antwi added, "Anyone who watched the game saw that we were all happy for Yacouba, after slotting in that beautiful free kick.
"The pressure on him was huge after running of games without a goal. Now we know that this is the first of many.
"We will continue to support him in every game to produce his bring back his best form again.”
The goal was Songne Yacouba's first since his brace against Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League in June last year.
Asante Kotoko wil resume their Confederation Cup campaign with the return game at home against Nkana on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
