Al Hilal will chase a key victory in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup when they host Zesco United in Omdurman on Sunday, 3 March 2019, kick-off at 18h00 CAT.
The teams played to a 1-1 draw in their meeting last weekend, with Lazarous Kambole striking in the 72nd minute to cancel out Nasr Omer’s earlier opener at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The result kept the teams level on four points apiece, though they have dropped into second and third position behind another Zambian side, Nkana FC, who defeated Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko to go to the head of the standings.
The Sudanese hosts will fancy their chances of a second home win in the group (having beaten Asante 1-0 in early February), which would lift them into the top two. New manager Nabil Kouki would have been satisfied with the draw in Zambia (especially as his team ended the game with 10 men), but will be urging his players to up their game and be inspired by the Omdurman faithful for the return.
Zesco’s only previous away game in the group was a 2-1 loss in Kumasi at the hands of the Porcupine Warriors, leaving manager George Lwandamina looking for an improvement in their second match on the road.
“I know it is a very difficult situation, we wanted to come out of this game with three points but unfortunately we have picked up [just] a point,” said Lwandamina.
“We still have three games to play and I am sure we can even pick maximum points away from home.”
The other Group C match sees Asante Kotoko host Nkana in Kumasi earlier in the day.
