Angola’s Petro de Luanda were bitterly unlucky to lose 1-0 against Egypt’s Zamalek in a CAF Confederations Cup, Group D match at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Sunday.

The home side controlled the flow of play early on, but their decision making in the final third was poor and this allowed Zamalek to find their footing.

As they grew in Confidence Zamalek started seeing more of the ball and they took advantage of that with the opening goal in the 27th minute courtesy of a clinical finish from Hamid Ahadad, 1-0.

The visiting side dominated the rest of the half but failed to add to the scoreline.

The second half saw Zamalek sit back in defence as they tried to protect their lead.

The Angolan side did push forward, but their shooting was poor as they constantly squander chances in front of goal.

In the end the match ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

The victory is Zamalek’s first in the group and sees them on five points from four matches while Petro de Luanda are on four points.

Zamalek are in action again in the Confederations Cup next weekend at home against Gor Mahia on Sunday, March 10 while Petro de Luanda are up against Hussein Dey.
