Former Asante Kotoko player Charles Asampong Taylor has backed the Kumasi-based club to reach the last eight of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko and Al Hilal will meet for a top-of-the-table Group C clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday 10 March.
The Ghanaian hosts come into the match placed second on the log with six points, having recorded two wins and two defeats from their four matches. They are just one behind the ‘Blue Wave’.
The ‘Porcupine Warriors’ powered back into quarterfinal contention last weekend when they thumped Zambia’s Nkana 3-0 in Kumasi, with goals from Fatawu Safiu, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Martin Antwi.
“They [Asante Kotoko] are playing well, I watched them against Nkana and I was impressed, though I think there is work to be done on the team," Taylor told Ghanasoccernet.
“Is not going to be easy in their next game but I feel they can make it. They have exceeded expectations, but I think they should do well to make it out of the group because they have the chance to.”
However, the West African side will be missing three of their key players in the shape of Richard Senanu, Maxwell Baako and Emmanuel Gyamfi.
The other Group C match is a Zambian derby between Nkana and Zesco which will be played simultaneously in Kitwe.
