Club Africain overcome Constantine

Club Africain beat CS Constantine 1-0 in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League Group C match at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui on Friday evening.

The win saw the Tunisian giants Africain remain third on the standings, while Algeria's Constantine also remained at the top of the log.

The hosts, who were looking to complete a double over Africain, were contained by the visitors in the opening stages of the game.

Africain grew in confidence as the match progressed with Burkina Faso striker Bassirou Compaore spearheading their attack.

The visitors pushed for the opening goal and they managed to break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.

Compaore was the man who put Africain into the lead and the visitors were leading 1-0 at the interval

Constantine introduced Cameroonian attacker Arouna Dang Bissene a few miutes into the second-half as the hosts looked to level matters.

However, they struggled to convert their chances and beat Africain's experienced goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi.

Africain were able to hold onto their slender lead and utimately, they emerged 1-0 winners over Constantine.
