Ajax’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana is calm over the prospect of a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Indomitable Lions shot-stopper has been tipped to return to the Camp Nou at the end of the current season.

Onana was on Barca’s books as a youngster before transferring to the Eredivisie side in 2016. He has since gone on to be a regular for Erik ten Hag’s team and is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming goalkeepers in Europe.

With Barcelona set to lose Jasper Cillessen, Onana has been touted as a replacement and possible competition for current number one Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Yet the Cameroon international insists he has had no contact with the Catalonia club.

He told Marca: "There hasn't been any contact, or at least none that I know of.

"You have to talk to my agent to ask what the situation is. I think I'm able to play for a big team, but I'm already at a club with the chance to do big things.

“I already said that returning to Barcelona would be a dream, but right now I'm fulfilling another one. We'll see what happens."

For now, Onana will focus on helping Ajax as they attempt to win the Eredivisie title and continue to impress in Europe, where they have reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League following a shock triumph over Real Madrid.
