Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has downplayed suggestions that the team could win their first league title this season.

The Citizens have been in superb form in recent weeks (picking up three win from their last four league matches) and find themselves just one point adrift of co-leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. Despite their strong position, Comitis is not getting carried away.

"You know seven games is a lot of games," Comitis told Kick Off.

"You lose the next two, you are out of the race, it's finished. So I won't make any predictions about the league. All I'm saying is that we are on form, we have to keep on playing this kind of football and keep on enjoying it. If that means we're going to lift the title at the end, so be it.

"But we can't think about that you know, we just think about the next game. To be honest the teams that I do fear are the ones we call small teams, it's eleven players against eleven and if you undermine them you're gonna lose because at the end of the day there are no bad teams in the PSL.

"You know even AmaZulu at the moment have produced some fantastic football, Chippa has produced some fantastic football... to me I'm still trying to understand this big team, small team theory, on the pitch it's eleven versus eleven."

Comitis added, "[Laughs] Do I need to say anything? You know let me tell you a small thing about football. You have to have balance. That balance is not just about the best players that exist in that position, the team must gel in many ways.

"You must have enough depth so that when things go wrong, you are covered, and the most important thing is that when players leave you, you react quickly."
