Asante Kotoko coach CK Akunnor has expressed his disappointment after his side was held 1-1 by Al Hilal in a CAF Confederation Cup Group C match this past weekend.

The Ghanaian side needed a late equaliser from Yacouba Songne to cancel out Waleed Hamid’s earlier opener for the Sudanese visitors.

The result at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi leaves the Porcupine Warriors in third place on the log and in need of a win away to Zesco United on Sunday 17 March to secure a place in the competition’s quarterfinals.

"We've felt like we have lost because we weren't ourselves,” Akunnor said after the match, as quoted by Football Ghana.

“That's sometimes the way, but we wanted the game so bad to kill it off but probably the last match we have to go to Zambia and win.

"We saw that Nkana FC had beaten Zesco United so we needed a win here to end it short, but that's it, one of those days.

"We noticed the scoreline after the first half and we told the boys, maybe it was the psyche that affected us.”

The other Group C match sees Al Hilal host leaders Nkana in Omdurman. A draw will be enough to send both teams through only if Kotoko fail to win in Zambia.
