Equatorial Guinea put up a fine display in their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with a 4-1 win over Sudan in a Group A match at the Al-Hilal Stadium on Friday.

Despite the victory Guinea are unable to qualify for the tournament proper after finishing third with six points, behind Madagascar and Senegal who have already qualified and are in action on Saturday.

Sudan finished bottom of the group with three points after five losses and one win.

Sudan did start their final Group A match positively and managed to open the scoring in the 15th minute courtesy of a strike from Mohamed Mokhtar, 1-0.

The away side quickly hit back with Emilio Nsue converting from the penalty spot four minutes later to level matters, 1-1.

Guinea continued to pile on the pressure and won a second penalty in the 35th minute which Nsue duly converted to give his country the lead going into the half time break, 2-1.

Four minutes into the second half Guinea took a two-goal lead thanks to a clinical finish from Pablo Ganet after a swift counter-attack, 3-1.

The icing on the cake was Guinea’s fourth goal five minutes from time courtesy of a deadly strike from Pedro Obiang, 4-1.
