Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet refused to get carried away following his heroics in helping South Africa book their spot at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Keet was superb in goal for Stuart Baxter's men as they sealed their ticket to Egypt with a hard fought 2-1 win over Libya in Tunisia this past weekend.

The 29-year-old, though, remained humble in his assessment of the game as he now turns his attention back to club football.

“I never look at it as if I am the number 1, everyone has to fight for their position," Keet told Soccer Laduma Radio.

"I don’t look at myself as if I have to play, I have to make sure I am still working hard and at the end of the day the coach has to make the decision based on the game-plan he thinks will fit the game,.

The Bidvest Wits shot-stopper was entrusted with a starting berth ahead of Ronwen Williams, as Itumeleng Khune continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.

“I have no idea, either one of us could have played…I knew that at any stage, either one of us could play. Obviously, the coach opted for me. There was no certain thing that made the coach choose me; in the end, you have to do the best you can,” he concluded.
