Tanzania's Banda already looking beyond AFCON finals

Tanzania international Abdi Banda has already made plans about the piece of land promised to the national team players.

John Pombe Magufuli, the Tanzanian president, promised each player in the squad some land after the Taifa Stars qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

"I am at a loss for words to say about Mr President. I only want to say may God bless him. I am going to use [the land] to build a house," Banda said on Kick Off Magazine.

The defender is pleased to have helped Tanzania qualify for the continent tournament for the first time since 1980.

"I am so happy. This is not only about qualifying for the AFCON finals but also making history in our careers," he added.

"I am very proud of my country for qualifying for the AFCON. This is also going to give us a chance to find new job opportunities for players."

The 2019 AFCON finals will be hosted by Egypt between June and July.
