Atletico Madrid’s Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has played down speculation that he could move away from the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old, who has registered three goals and five assists from 37 appearances across all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side, has been talked of as a major transfer target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Black Stars midfielder has been mentioned as a possible alternative to Paul Pogba should Real Madrid be unable to convince the Frenchman to leave Manchester United, while Old Trafford could be his destination if the World Cup winner does indeed head to the Bernabeu.
The swirling speculation is no worry for Partey, though, as he told Mundo Deportivo that he is perfectly happy with Atletico and has no plans to leave the club.
"I grew up at Atlético de Madrid and I'm sure I'll stay here,” said the Odumase Krobo-born player, who joined the Rojiblancos as a youngster in 2011/12.
"I do not know where I could be better than here. I will stay at Atlético as long as they want me to stay."
Partey is likely to be a member of Ghana’s squad at the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
