Three of the four semifinal berths for the CAF Confederation Cup will be decided today, with a trio of second-leg, quarterfinal matches to be played across the continent.
The action should have begun with an afternoon match in Omdurman, where Sudanese giants Al Hilal would have been looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit to four-time champions Etoile du Sahel. However, the clash has been postponed due to security concerns in Sudan.
The early evening game comes from Stade Taieb Mhiri in Tunisia, where CS Sfaxien will look to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Zambia’s Nkana. A late away goal from Habib Oueslati gives the Juventus of the Arabs a great platform from which to turn the tie around.
The quarterfinals wrap up with two night games in North Africa, where Morocco’s RS Berkane look set for comfortable advancement against Kenya’s Gor Mahia (RSB won 2-0 away in the first leg in Nairobi thanks to goals from Francis Kahata and Bakr El Helali), while things are rather more evenly balanced ahead of Zamalek hosting Hassania Agadir in Cairo.
The Egyptian hosts will be happy at having claimed a goalless stalemate in the first leg in Morocco, but HUSA know that only they can now benefit from the away goals rule in the tie.
