Polokwane City captain Jabulani Maluleke has announced his ambitions to play for Bafana Bafana as he continues to defy the odds.

The 37-year-old seems to only get better with age and with eight assists and three goals this campaign, the midfielder is in contention for the Absa Premiership Player of the Season accolade.

And with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations coming up later this year, Maluleke hasn't ruled himself out of Bafana Bafana contention, this despite having yet to make his debut for the national team.

"It all depends on upstairs [office of national team selectors]. I am here to enjoy my football with my current team," Maluleke told KickOff.com.

"If anything comes I am okay, but for now I am focusing on my team."

The evergreen midfielder contributed his success this season to a healthy lifestyle away from the football field.

"It's about hard work and dedication. If you love something, you must keep pushing. Thats what I am doing. I keep myself away from a lot of [bad] things. Lifestyle is important. If you live a clean life you will play for a long time," he added.
