Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has talked up Orlando Pirates’ chances of winning the Absa Premiership this season, insisting such a triumph would be “fair”.
Pirates currently enjoy a six-point lead at the top of the table, though champions Sundowns (who are placed third on the log) do have two games in hand – one of which takes place this afternoon when they face relegation-threatened Baroka FC away from home.
The Brazilians also face the possibility of being docked points after being found guilty of fielding ineligible player Wayne Arendse against Bidvest Wits last year, but Mosimane believes that even if this were the case, Pirates would still be worthy champions.
"I think Pirates have got a good team to win the league to be honest and fairly. Fairly they can win it, fairly. That's what I believe, they can win the league straight," said Mosimane, as quoted by Kick-Off.
"Maybe next year Sundowns will win the league. Let's try next year," he added.
Sundowns, meanwhile, still have the chance to win the CAF Champions League, as they take on Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca over two legs in the semifinal.
