Former Bafana Bafana captain and current SAFA technical director, Neil Tovey, believes Bafana Bafana's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group D opponents will be dreading their impending clash against the 1996 champions.
South Africa are seeded alongside Ivory Coast, Morocco and Southern African rivals Namibia in a group.
Tovey, who lifted the continental crown 23 years ago, is confident of South Africa's chances at the showpiece in Egypt, following a strong run in qualifying.
"Any group would have been difficult in our seedings, but like I said I don't think any of the other groups would have wanted us as a third choice. No one would have wanted Bafana," Tovey told KickOff.com.
"As much as we are not wanting this, not wanting that or whatever, I don't think any of these other teams would have liked us. You ask Morocco, you ask Cote d'Ivoire, I don't think they would have wanted Bafana in their group. They would have said probably no.
"We must just take one game at a time and go through to the next round and don't talk about winning it. One game at a time and see how this tournament goes. If we play the same way we played away against Nigeria and Libya we will be fine," he concluded.
