Al Ahly manager Martin Lasarte feels that his side deserved to defeat Al Masry as they kept their hopes of defending the Egyptian Premier League title alive.
The Red Devils secured a 2-0 win over Al Masry 2-0 on Thursday and the Uruguayan tactician discussed their title rivals, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC.
“I think that the team did what they could, even though the opponent had some chances during the game. But in general we were in control of the game and got a well deserved win,” Lasarte said on King Fut.
Lasarte then compared this game to their 1-0 loss against Pyramids FC in the previous game.
“I watched Pyramids’ game three times and we didn’t deserve to lose. But this is football, today we pressed high and took the game seriously. We got an opportunity to score but we failed and we have to work on this more in the future.
“Zamalek and Pyramids are performing really well. The only difference is that e’still have a game against Zamalek but we won’t face Pyramids,” he concluded.
Al Ahly moved to the second spot on the league standings - two points behind the leaders, Pymirads, but the former have two games in hand.
