Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his delight at seeing Guinean midfielder Naby Keita put in yet another goal-scoring performance.
Keita opened the scoring in Liverpool’s 5-0 home win over Huddersfield on Friday night, a result which took them back to the top of the Premier League table (though Manchester City have a game in hand).
The Guinea international has now scored three times in the Reds’ last six matches, having opened his account in a 3-2 win over Southampton early this month, as well as a 2-0 victory over Porto in the UEFA Champions League.
Klopp feels that Keita is now truly justifying the hefty price Liverpool paid RB Leipzig to bring him to Anfield at the start of the season.
"That's the plan. People expect if you pay money for a player that you come in and from the first day you show everything you are able to do,” said the German manager.
“That would be nice if it's always that easy. It's not. Naby needed time, we gave him the time and now he is there.
"It was for sure his best game tonight, in a lot of departments.
“He was calm in the right moment, very, very positive-aggressive in the right moments, winning balls, blocking balls, closing gaps, passing balls, being safe with the ball, turning and creating with that moment. It was just a brilliant game."
