Mamelodi Sundowns have escaped a points deduction after illegally fielding defender Wayne Arendse in an Absa Premiership match against Bidvest Wits earlier this season.

Arendse was included in the Brazilians starting eleven despite not appearing on the official team sheet in the club's 1-1 draw against the Clever Boys last October.

Both Sundowns and Arendse were found guilty in March after a six-month wait from the Independent PSL Disciplinary committee.

The defending league champions were instead ordered to play a fine of R250 000 (half suspended for 12 months), while Arendse was fined R50 000 (all suspended for 12 months).

Sundowns duly remain on 50 points after 27 league games this season, three points behind leaders Orlando Pirates who have played a game more.

Pitso Mosimane's troops are in action away to Black Leopards this evening.
