Liverpool duo nominated for top award

Liverpool's African duo, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, are among the nominees for the Premier League Player of the Season accolade.

The pair are part of a seven-man shortlist that includes Reds teammate and PFA Players' Player of the Year, Virgil van Dijk.

Salah, who won the English Premier League golden boot award last season, currently tops the scoring charts once more with 22 goals to his name in the current campaign. The Egypt international is hoping to become the first player to retain the award in over a decade.

Mane, moreover, is currently enjoying his best scoring season and sits on 20 goals for the league season, heading into the final game of the campaign at home to Wolves this coming weekend.

The Liverpool trio are joined on the shortlist by Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling, as well as Eden Hazard of Chelsea.
