Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru says he is fully focused on finishing the 2018/19 season strongly with Galatasaray.
The 21-year-old attacker is on loan at the Turkish Super Lig side from parent club Everton and has enjoyed a great campaign to date, racking up 13 goals and three assists in the domestic championship.
In fact, Onyekuru even scored the opening goal in Gala’s 2-0 win over Besiktas this past weekend which saw them rise to the top of the log.
The Istanbul giants are keen on keeping the Nigerian on their books and have reportedly offered to double his wages.
However, Onyekuru says his only focus for now is on ending the campaign strongly and helping Gala in their attempt to win the Super Lig.
“Yes, I can’t discuss anything [regarding a contract], for now, I am still a player of Everton,” the player is quoted by Nigeria’s Football Live.
“I want to stay focused to finish the season on a good note, before sitting on a round table with Everton and my agent to discuss where my future lies.
“It is true, Galatasaray wants me to stay back, [but] that decision rests on my agent.
“Mine is to play football, while my agent is to take decisions regarding the positive move for me in my career, as for now, I remain a player of Everton.
“For now, I am enjoying my stay in Galatasaray, the fans have been so supportive in large numbers, top notch players and not forgetting quality administrators in the club.
“For now, Let’s see how it pans out at the end of the day.”
