The Egyptian league leaders have dismissed reports suggesting that Martin Lasarte will be fired as head coach.

Al Ahly director of football, Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, has confirmed that these reports are completely false and claimed they were only created in an attempt to destabilise the club as they edge closer to another league crown.

The Red Devils appointed Lasarte as Patrice Carteron's replacement in December following the club's defeat in the Caf Champions League final.

Lasarte's job was reportedly on the line following Al Ahly's 5-1 aggregate defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the very same competition, but three wins in their last three league games has eased pressure on the Uruguayan.

“What is being reported about Lasarte’s departure and talks with another manager is completely not true. These rumors are a part of a campaign to destabilize the team ahead of an important stage of the season,” Abdel-Hafiz said as per KingFut.com.

“The coach and players are well aware to such things and these rumors only motivate us more to give our maximum and defend the league title. We will turn our back to such rumors.”
