Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane isn't surprised by the level of success achieved by Percy Tau this season.

Tau, 24, was named Belgium's Proximus League (second division) Player of the Season following a terrific campaign for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on-loan from English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Bafana Bafana forward, who spearheaded Sundowns to league glory 12 months prior, scored 11 goals and assisted a further 13 on his way to a second Player of the Season accolade in succession.

Mosimane, though, isn't surprised by Tau's immediate success in Europe and questioned why he's not playing at a higher level.

“When Percy won that award I thought to myself: ’Okay, he is expected to win that.' Percy is a English Premier League player," said Mosimane.

“What is he doing there? If Percy doesn’t get to the English Premier League‚ then I don’t know.

"Maybe you guys (media) must put pressure and they must give him the work permit.

"Can’t he go to La Liga‚ Bundesliga or Serie A‚ the boy is a top player.”
