Gross: Zamalek deserve to reach Caf Confed Cup final

Zamalek head coach Christian Gross says his side deserves to reach the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Egyptian football powerhouse advanced to the final of the continental tournament after edging out Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel 1-0 on aggregate in a semi-final tie.

Gross praised his side's defensive display in the second-leg clash which ended in a 0-0 draw in Tunisia last weekend.
“We delivered an outstanding defensive performance against Etoile du Sahel," Gross said on Ahramonline.

"Our defenders were like lions and managed to overcome the furious attacking strategy of the Tunisian team.

“We deserve to be in the final. We played very well and our goal in the first leg by Mahmoud Kahraba was a decisive one."

Zamalek have won the elite Champions League five times but have never won Africa's secondary club competition.

They will face Moroccan outfit RS Berkane in the two-legged final later this month.
