Mohamed Salah entered the day in pole position to clinch the English Premier League golden boot with 22 goals, and on course to retain the title he won last season.

The Egypt international, though, failed to find the back of the net in a 2-0 win over Wolves as Liverpool fell agonisingly short of a first league crown in three decades.

His Reds teammate, Mane, scored both goals for the Reds to move level with Salah on 22 goals for the season.

Aubameyang also ended the campaign with 22 goals following a brace in Arsenal's 3-1 win over Burnley.

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero finished the season on 21 goals, but ended the happiest of the lot, having claimed another Premier League crown.

The Citizens beat Brighton and Hove Albion 4-1 to edge Liverpool to the title by a single point.
